How To Boot Into Character Mode With SuSE 8.0

Dear List, Hate to ask this, but how does one avoid going directly into X-windows at boot time? I would prefer to begin with the Character User Interface, if a simple change would make that happen. Thank you for any assistance offered. Respectfully, Ken Becker
