What is a 'DECO'?
TV decoder. I don't know exactly how it is called in English.
In the old days, it was a "set top box". I don't know if people have those anymore - my TV has built-in card readers.
This one is quite different. With cable TV, all channels are sent simultaneously to every home. The box simply tunes one. This box works on demand, only one video stream is received at a time. The user selects what to see with the IR remote control, the box sends the appropriate command to the server cloud, then the server cloud sends back the stream direct to the client. Each client a different stream. If the client wants several TV sets, he has to hire one decoder for each. Or, you can watch a stream on the computer, gratis, if the computer is in the LAN (huh, I have to test if it works now after the firewall upgrade). -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
