Running 9.3 at the moment and installed 10 yesterday night. When in 9.3 I had nasty problem with my monitor. The monitor would loose its image, show a black screen and could only be activated when I used the on off switch. Nothing in my setup could be possible connected with this behavior. I got a reserve monitor from my favorite computer shop and installed that monitor. No problem whats however. Getting my monitor back without the shop finding anything wrong (they ran it two times 24 hours with Windows ;-(), I changed monitors without changing any of the settings. Since than I ran 9.3 the whole day and the problem did not show up. Installing 10 I found for the first time ever my monitor in the choices of sax and used those settings. At once the problem occurred again. Changing to 9.3 with the (last) settings of the reserve monitor the problem was gone (for the whole day). Looking at the settings I got following differences. monitor hor. vert. I 9.3 L7031 30-70 47-104 according to monitor manual II 9.3 TVM LR-4DC 30-50 50-120 according to sax list III 10 L703X 30-69 50-90 according to sax list Both under I and III my monitor blacks out regular (5 to 10 minutes) Under II my monitor is stable and does not black out. I know that it is said to damage the monitor if the minimum and maximum values are not kept but does somebody know how serious this kind of warning has to be taken? Any ideas why my monitor acts like it does? I am using the monitor at 1024x768 with 15 bit color depth because in the past as my monitor started spooking I found in the past that those settings gave me the longest times between the blackouts.
