Anyway I finally found out how to boot into the old YAST 1, and was able to get things installed. Set up SAX, and play around a little.
How ?? I hate yast 2.
6.3 CD Version : Boot from the 2nd CD and Yast1 is started 6.3 DVD Version : At the "boot:" prompt enter "update" and there it is.
On the Eval ISO, there is a directory called `disks', in which you will find an image called (iirc) boot.img. dd or cat this to a floppy, and boot from it.
