100 dpi fonts

Having measured my screen and allowing for the fact that it runs 1024x768 I decided that the native resolution (LCD screen) was about 92 dpi. In an attempt to inprove the on-screen appearance of fonts I commented out the 75 dpi lines in xconfig. So far so good but all the title bars now have larger sized type. In a similar vein is it possible to persuade X to use a specific dpi resolution? I accept that these questions show my lack of understanding about x and fonts in general but any suggestions would be most appreciated. Many Thanks Francesco
