Hi gurus,
How do i find out, how many times my reiserfs partition is mounted?
I'm using sles9 sp4 kernel version 2.6.5-7.308.
This mail list is oriented to openSUSE, not SLES. You should have other support channels.
My situation is racing against time, we have a problematic db that we need to reboot every week and and should be up within 30 mins or less.
Our problem is when during boot when suse run a force fsck which would prolong our downtime (fsck for more than 500gig of data would take a while or more than 1 hour).
If only we know how many time the server is booted then we can advise our user for an extended downtime.
Is 20 mounts/remounts would force fsck on the partition? am I correct on this?
No. A reiserfs partition fsck does not take into account how many times it has been mounted, it checks always, and does it very fast, in seconds. Only if there are errors, like a crash or power failure, does the check take while longer. If that check fails and forces a manual check, that will take a very long time (rebuildtree, etc). It is ext2/3/4 types which do take into account the number of mounts. Verify what filesystem type you are really using. You can not guarantee a maximum boot time. You can only specify a typical boot time. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
