hardware > printer shows a message "No print spooler installed. You must install package lprold in order to
Hello, my YaST2 was hosed by using SuSE's online update. When I tried running YaST2 after the update I got the a message; "There was an error while attempting to obtain a list of available modules. The list of displayed modules may be incomplete. Please make sure that YaST2 and YaST2 Control Center are installed properly" I looked for log and config files for yast but there wasn't much that I could get any info out of. I used yast to un-install everything I could find that was named *yast2*, then copied the same files from dvd to hard disk and re-installed them using yast.. I got the same message. I went to the SuSE ftp server and dloaded the newest *yast* files and installed them. Now the window will open and the icons appear (although not where they were before). Some of the functions look like they may even work. So many modules fail though that I won't trust the ones that do. Currently if I try to set >hardware >sound i get a message saying "the sound card database cannot be found. Please check your installation" How do I do this? By the way sound is working, I'd just like to install my soundfonts. print" Well my printing is finally working, thats what started this whole mess. I'm not going to trust a broken applications assesment and break my printing again.
iinstall remove software window just closes w/ no message. misc >hardware info window opens but shows nothing.
Enter RANT mode
I'm spending more and more time trying to get SuSE to work and less and less time actually using it. (I have gone well beyond any hope of actually enjoying using SuSE) I AM FRUSTRATED.
Exit RANT mode
Any Ideas about how to fix my current problem will be greatly appreciated. thank you,
