Did you download the rpm's from suse's ftp? If not, then do so, because you can install those through yast.

this will work probably from *any* ftp server, though i never tried anything else but SuSE's. rpm -i <A HREF="ftp://servername/path/rpmfile</A">ftp://servername/path/rpmfile</A> (same with update -U) but to the Michaels original question: SuSE 5.0 was the first attempt to rpm files. the rpm-format has changed ever since. that's why it does not work. Look into the SDB. There is an Artikle regarding this. Update rpm first. Jürgen
Hi Folks !
I just downloaded a few versions of KDE Beta 4 stable. all as rpm - files. (just to figure out, which are the best for my system)
i'm using suse 5.0.
ok, i tried to install the packages with <rpm -i package-name> but nothing worked !!!
by installing the kdebase he said, that i have to install the qt libs and the kde libs first. by installing this packages he said: error - unknown header.
do i something wrong ? or are just the packages the wrong ones (i got them from the german suse ftp-server).
thanx for your help and please excuse this bad english, i'm still learning . . .
bye, Michael
