Hello,
I'm new to the list and have just installed Leap 42.3 64bit with GNOME 3.20.2 on a Lenovo laptop.
The laptop is intended for use in remote areas with low internet bandwidth. In order to reduce internet traffic as much as possible, I would like to prevent the system from checking for updates altogether when it's online in low-bandwidth areas.
uninstall package kit. Taboo and uninstall these at least: PackageKit-browser-plugin PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin PackageKit-gtk3-module apper gnome-packagekit pk-update-icon Yast Online Updater is a manual command, it doesn't run unless you call it. However, you could just disable online repositories, and then even if you accidentally run it or zypper, they will not connect. You can then use and external hard disk for installing updates that you store there on some other place. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" (Minas Tirith))
