Frommy understanding there is a r128 and the m3/4 for notebooks which also use a version of the r128 drivers, since youve got 32meg i wonder if someone has put the m4 on a card. If so you need to look at using xfree 4.0.2 and a kernal that has ati support.
until now I have not had any lucky trying to use it unser linux suse 6.4, I will try with suse 7.0, but anyway it is ridiculous to have such a fine card and not to be albe to use it under linux easly, beside the support that suse gives sucks, I am sure that if all linux companies give the same kind of support then it will matter much if microsoft keeps giving us shit like millenium, any way works with most of hardware, in the mean while suse linux all they can sy about a support demand is something like we are no longer giving support for suse 6.4, only for suse 7.0..... that is more than ridiculous, I bought a box suse distribution for full price, and a u$ 200 video card, and can not use not the one not the other, sax frees with this video card, what am I suppouse to do? change the video card everytime I will run linux? and who gives support I ask again... suse as a corporation? no they do not, the mailling list? until now yes we may say so, even if until now I hae not had any real solution, I am affraid that no matter if suse is a great distribution, with out a real support no matter how good the distrubution be, this is a complain about suse as a corporation , a corporation that has no respect for its coustomers, a corporation that do not take care for its coustomers troubles with their product, a product for with they pay in cash.... I understand that most of the facts about installation must be solved by the user, but I do know that things like for example the adecuation of a distribution for being able to use a video card sucn an ATI must be a part of the corporation in this case suse, or at least give a real solution to those of us who have bought the suse distribution and an ATI video card, I am really frustrated because not being able to use a computer just because the OS do not accept
Neither of which are SuSE's fault. They don't release packages or kernals untill they are sure that their default application suite work ok. PHP4 and a few others that have been talked about on this messagebank are points in quest and await integration. Thjis meansthat those of us that expect minimum problems when building a new system have such. This also means that when we play we know that a problem is from what were doing, not from the source system, unlike a couple of other versions out there. csijon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Garcia" <acad@accefyn.org.co> To: <bryantyson@earthlink.net> Cc: <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2000 4:58 PM Subject: Re: [SLE] ati <p>> I have an ati all in wonder pro, it has 32 megs, and it dows not work, at least the
video card and no matter how many times you mail of fax the corporation you just get no response from them..... well makes you think about the sense of buying a legal product ana paying full fee for it, do not want to disturb any of you, just that I am very ungry about this suse and ati video card, cheers

Finally, make sure you are using the rage 128 driver (sorry, I don't know the proper name off the top of my head). There are two types of r128 [at least with X4.0] The rage cards are better supported IMHO under the 4.0 series then older 3.x.x .
Especially if it's the latest All-in-Wonder, I would check this angle. I recently bought an ATI Rage Pro, and it would not work under 3.x.x. However, it works great in 4.0. The ATI cards can be confusing because sometimes they have the same or similar names but use different chips.
