The issue with one partition of any type (no /home) is that you can not reinstall the system, typically with a new release, because it means reformatting home and loosing your data.
Oh, tell it those who are using Solaris. You can have unlimited amount of different OS instances of different versions in the same pool. This just needs installer support that's all. And not really big amount of changes, just reasonable design of subvolume namespace. Integration with software management (Solaris 11 had this from day one) had been additional bonus. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAlJMQQAACgkQR6LMutpd94y+CgCgji1UqWhtVhXHXoLPk2ZJ8m6q GX4AoLgPj4jiTRWh7aAkdqHyDe2wqiAE =Yxtv -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
