I'm trying to install beta3 on a PII 400MHz with 256Mb RAM. I boot off CD1. If I specify manual=1, the installation procedure is unable to detect the harddisk, even if doing an "fdisk /dev/hda" in another tty works just fine.
You have to load driver modules for hard disk and/or CDROM by hand (i.e. "manual"). Usually ide_disk and piix.
piix is offered up by one the dialog boxes, and I load it - and as I said, I have no problem accessing the IDE disks using fdisk? OK, I guess that could be module autoloading. Is this new in 10.0 - having to load ide_disk when doing a manual install? I don't remember having had to do it before. SCSI-drivers yes, but not IDE. Anyway, as far as I can see, the options offered by linuxrc F3 and F4 are all I need to do a NFS install, so really no need for manual=1. /Per Jessen, Zürich
