Hello! I had this problem too. I corrected this by adding the hosts into /etc/hosts on the telnet server (actually each machine on my network): 123.456.789.0 box1.domain.ext box1 123.456.789.1 box2.domain.ext box2 ... Hope it helps. Ju. On Tuesday 29 May 2001 06:53, w7ntf@aol.com wrote:
My SuSE Linux box with v6.4, kernel 2.2.16, developed a problem recently. I can no longer telnet in and get the following when I try:
Trying 123.456.789.0... Connected to 123.456.789.0. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host
It has been working quite well for years, but now all of a sudden for no reason I can no longer get in.
Interestingly, I can telnet out ok... and telnet to other applications running on the system... and I can FTP to my linux box ok, but no incoming telnet is allowed. Can someone tell me what to look at in order to restore my incoming telnet capability? I am at a loss as to why this suddenly changed without notice. Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Gary
