Hi Folks,
I'm considering Tumbleweed for a customer, but they want to "register" the version number. What version numbering scheme does TW use? What would "/etc/os-release" show? Would it be a static number, or would it change as it "tumbles"?
Don't know where you would register it and what you would register. But the release number changes with each snapshot release, currently: cat /etc/os-release NAME=openSUSE VERSION="Tumbleweed" VERSION_ID="20160307" PRETTY_NAME="openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160307) (x86_64)" ID=opensuse ANSI_COLOR="0;32" CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:opensuse:opensuse:20160307" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.opensuse.org" HOME_URL="https://www.opensuse.org/" ID_LIKE="suse"
version would be 20160307 which will change shortly.
It seems odd that there isn't an app in Systemsettings that presented all the possible version numbers for various bits of system software i.e. OS, KDE, Plasma etc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
