I agree, but I think the problem is the wrong data reported by acpi. try start go runlevel 3, remove the modules, start X manually. -----Original Message----- From: dwpang [mailto:dwpang@redflag-linux.com] Sent: giovedì 8 settembre 2005 10.27 To: opensuse@opensuse.org Subject: Re: [opensuse] Some OSD information showed in screen! Thanks! I try to remove asus_acpi,but the kpowersave always crashed. I think asus_acpi is very useful.some information of my laptop using #cat /proc/acpi/asus/info Asus Laptop ACPI Extras Driver 0.29-SUSE Model reference : M2E SFUN value : 0xc177 DSDT length : 35116 DSDT checksum : 251 DSDT revision : 1 OEM id : 0AAAA OEM table id : 0AAAA000 OEM revision : 0x0 ASL comp vendor id : INTL ASL comp revision : 0x2002026 the data show the driver identified my laptop was ASUS M2E Module. if we know which program produced some information like OSD, we can stop that program !
I have an asus 4k, and have the same problem. If you remove asus_acpi the problem go away, the syslog is full of messages about error in acpi lcd (when I can turn on the laptop I will be more precise).

I run SuSE 10 Beta4 in my ASUS A6Q17Va laptop with KDE,my screen often show some information about "LCD is on" or " LCD is off" like OSD,I want to know which program produced that. I try other WM,but other WM is not like that,so it is possible that this phenomenon produced by some program of KDE. This phenomenon was often displayed in my screen, annoyed! How can stop it! Thanks!
