Mmm. You need to see exactly what the ISP is sending back to you. It may be that after login it has a menu of options, in some cases you need to send the string "ppp" to get going after logging in. You could try using minicom to call the ISP and see what is happening. You are not getting responses back to your LCP echos, which suggests that the ppp protocol is not really established OR the ISP end is confused about something. If your password is really not being accepted you should see something about pap/chap authentification failures I seem to recall. Get your ISP on the phone and see if they will co-operate in monitoring a session with you. I don't use wvdial anymore since I have an ISDN connection but I do recall it was a very smart program in trying to work out the vagaries of various ISP's. are the ******* you typed in exactly what is shown by wvdial or do you see your actual login name? **** is when wvdial sends passwords. If that is not the case then have tried logging in manually? if so with success then if you post your actual login sequence we may be able to help you better. you can even ask your provider for that information.

Hi all, Well thanks to those who gave me input on my modem not connecting to the provider. I tried all the suggestions (aside from switching providers) and still it times out on the 'sending password' portion of the connect. Having to use my wifes winbox to connect is killing me :( Oh well..I know I don't have to worry about her using my machine for anything now cuz I get the "See..I told you Windows is better" attitude.
