I was watching a training video (really) when the around volume started reduding itself. Over a period of about 30 seconds or so the volume went to zero. I went to the YaST sound module but it told me not to mess with anything unless I was an expert. Any experts out there willing to help? I'd appreciate any help.
My sound has likewise been all over the board in 11.0. I like the following tools for looking at sound:
/usr/bin/alsamixer /usr/bin/alsamixergui
Alsamixer, and the gui give you all your sound volume/mute controls in one place. You need to install the following rpms:
alsa-utils-1.0.16-35.1 alsamixergui-0.9.0rc1-705.1
Ditto, Though in my case Entranced may be part of the mix. Every so often the alsa settings get either completely zapped, or switched to the default (which does not work on the machine concerned) when the machine boots (or possibly on shutdown, rather difficult to tell :-) ). The problem is there is no consistency about when this happens and no identifiable evidential trail (so reporting this as a reproducible bug is a bit of a problem). - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
