OK, so maybe it is my SuSE settings. I have a USR Sportster 33600 modem, which dials and connects just fine when I use minicom, however it doesn't hang around long enough for retrain signal when using chat. I hear the beep, then almost immediately it goes offhook, with a steady tone initiated shortly thereafter. I thought it was a modem problem until I discovered that minicom does not have this problem.

Have you tried something other than the chat scripts? A small dialer, ppp thing, is wvdial. It works quite well and is a bit easier to get working than ppp-up and chat stuff ImO. -- Michael Perry mperry@basin.com ------------------ - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
