=20 The other option for a new newsgroup is to reflect the list to a newsgroup. I have participated in a few newsgroup creations in the past for OS/2 stuff and had decided at one point to reflect a mailing list to a newsgroup. This never happened though. Each approach had its advantages. I would vote for a reflected mailing list to newsgroup approach personally.
Considering the spam volume that many of us already get, I would
vote for having a separate newsgroup and mailing list. This mailing
list is a lot better without getting tons of spam posts a day.
In a lot of cases (i.e. the ssh list), the gateway was made one-way
because of the amount of spam posted (most usenet users won't even see
it due to cancels or filtering like cleanfeed or spamhippo), and even
then there were lots of complaints.
