7.2 upg broke SO and vmware fonts

Hi, Can anyone help me, I have upgraded a 7.1 installation to 7.2 and now StarOffice and vmware don't display the fonts correctly. I thought it was because the upgrade turned off xfstt but I started it and it is still the same. When either program is started, the buttons and menus just show placeholders (a diamond with a ? in it) instead of the correct text. Has anyone come across this problem before and what fixed it?
