as root, what do you get when you do an 'ifconfig'? that should come back with what the cards are set up as. what about route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev eth0 ? see if it's even configuring the network properly.
On the main box I get the following: bash-2.02# ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:CC:50:4F:5A inet addr:192.168.0.99 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:14 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 Interrupt:10 Base address:0x1000 On the old box I get: eth0 Link encap:10Mbps Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:05:A6:AA:7A inet addr:192.168.0.42 Bcast:192.168.17.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 Interrupt:3 Base address:0x300 when I use 'route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev eth0' on the new box it doesn't say anything after pressing enter. The same goes for the old box. hey... wait a minute! I can ping 192.168.042 now! Does this mean it's working now? what do I do next? thanks!!! rimez -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
