There was a thread on this about a month ago but it ended without a good fix. YAST2 recognizes and sets up the sound card without complaint, but sound card only produces "static". Booting with ACPI=OFF and doing a "Suspend" (from KDE laptop applet) and then resuming result in normal sound operation. A potential hazard of this workaround is that the mouse pointer can "go crazy" after resuming resulting in all sorts of havoc - CTRL-ALT-BKSP bails out of this but is a little drastic just to have sound. The implication is that there is some sort of interaction between the power management and sound, but I am way too much a newbie to even begin to troubleshoot what this might be. If there are logs or configuration settings that I can provide that could give a clue to this behavior, let me know and I'll forward them.
