ping works only on windows as the server name ctrc35 is unknown to Linux because I failed to allow it to be visible to Linux from Windows as explained in the doc you attached. Thank you very much.
Anyway, I found the workaround .. not so elegant but it works .. I got the IP address from pinging the server on Windows and then I plugged in the pathnname on Konqueror and it worked ... A widget popped up asking me for username and password.
I have another question .. Why SuSE 10.3 cannot detect my USB memory stick that I have used many times with 9.3 ???? It probably requires some mounting that I cannot remember. There is a Linux command to list the mounted devices that I cannot remember. But I could list this table just as root. I cannot see /media nor /mnt
