Try using the boot diskett , then restart yast , and redo the moitor stuff. You can also just simply reintall . If you are only running linux and windows , you realy dont need the boot manager ,as you can use lilo , loadln or just insert a boot disk. You may want to remove the boot manager to rule that one out ? At 09:28 PM 12/7/1998 -0500, you wrote:
I got SuSE 5.3 today, and this is what I did........
I have a 4 Gb EIDE HDD.
I used PARTITION MAGIC to resize my current partition and shrank it down to 2 GB.
Using PMagic again, I created a LINUX partition (1.5 GB) and a SWAP PARTITION (1/2 Gb)
Then I used BOOT MAGIC ( something like LILO) and added the EXT2 partition to the menu.
Everything is cool so far.
I pop in the SuSE CD and restart.
Computer boots from the CD, and I proceed with the installation procedure.
Not a single hitch.
SuSE installs flawlessly. Then it starts Linux.
I log in as ROOT.
Everything proceeds perfectly.
Now, what I did was type "SAX"
The configurator program came on and by mistake I chose the wrong monitor.
So I say save changes, and it tells me that it is attempting to start the X system.
My monitor goes crazy. Because of the wrong settings that I chose.
I hard boot the computer.
POST flys by, and then BOOT MAGIC comes up......
I select linux, and it tries to hand over control to the linux partition.
That's where my system dies.
It just doesn't boot.
What am I doing wrong?
