kate problem

Hi all, I use kate to edit files on an FTP server and it's always worked fine for me in the past .. including today. But about 5 minutes ago kate stopped saving files. Looking at the network traffic I can see that it's sending an anonymous logon instead of my username:password (despite me telling it to remember them). Shutting kate down and restarting didn't help. Removing all of kates config files didn't help. Manually typing ftp://username:password@server.domain.com/ doesn't work .. it keeps sending the anonymous logon. Anybody know what's up .. it was working one minute, and not the next. i didn't touch anything .. honest! ;-) sjb
