Except that *you* always have to wait for the refresh,
No I don't. Not always. <quote> To delay the up-to-date check (and thus the automatic refresh) for a certain number of minutes, edit the value of the repo.refresh.delay attribute of ZYpp config file (/etc/zypp/zypp.conf). This means, zypper will not even try to download and check the index files, and you will be able to use zypper for operations like search or info without internet access or root privileges. </quote.

Indeed. If you RTFM you'll find there is an amazing amount that can be configured. So much so that when I encounter the few programs where the developer thought he (or she) knew what was best for you and <strike>prevents</strike fails to provide the capability to alter such preferences I get a little .... peeved. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
