I have two buffalo linkstations running on my network has anybody ever used one? They seem only to support afp, smb and ftp.
I am guessing they are using a linux kernel apache mysql and others but I can't seem to share via fish or nfs.
I can ssh into the devices but when I authenticate they drop the connection.
How can I mount them so I can access them via console as well as via dolphin os it better to use windows samba or apples file protocol?
Why such a device doesn't support nfs is beyond me.
Hi Stuart - I've got a couple of these devices running. I've found http://buffalo.nas-central.org to be a great resource for hacking them. You're right - they're running Linux, but out of the box the options to tinker with them are somewhat limited. Depending upon how adventurous you are you can go so far as to replace the firmware with a full blown debian installation (sadly no openSUSE ARM port so far as I know). The squeeze release of debian even supports these boxes natively, so there isn't any need to be messing with custom compiled kernels. Or, as others have suggested, just use your Linux desktop to connect via CIFS ...
