Thanks! It seems that Netscape 4.8 just renders some pages better than Mozilla on some sites, and also, tends to deal with embedded RealPlayer clips too. I went to Yahoo to view some of the currentl movie trailers, and both Mozilla and Konqueror could not play them...Netscape did. So, the question on using the newer Netscape. I think I'll just wait a bit for Mozilla 1.4 as was suggested. Thanks for all the info from everyone! Anthony

Hi all,
I would like to upgrade my Netscape v4.8 to Netscape 7.x on SuSE 8.2. Should I remove the current version, or just install the new one over the other? Also, will this effect Mozilla, and if so, any hints on how to deal with this? Thanks all!

Anthony, Since the Netscape 4.8 was installed by your SuSE, it will have a different path than the Netscape 7.x you download from their site. So unless you just want two copies, I think you can safely remove the older version. Some keep both until they are sure everything works with the new though.
The biggest difference, other than features, between the old and new will be the plugins, as they are different between these versions. Sometimes the plugins are as important as the basic package functionality!
Since Netscape is based on Mozilla anyway and usually behind it in revisions, one has to wonder why bother with Netscape? Netscape allows "xv" to take over the graphical imag processing. Mozilla doesn't. Sometimes I use the SuSE 7.2 box and Netscape 4.7 just so I can use the integrated xv.
I feel for Anthony's caution.
