If it thinks otherwise, it believes all user account info is in one file, /etc/passwd, thus deleting a user would only affect this file. With shadowing, user passwords are stored in /etc/shadow. -Chuck
-----Original Message----- From: Rick Francis [mailto:rfrancis@mindspring.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 26, 2000 6:15 PM To: SuSe Subject: [SLE] suse and webmin
running suse v6.4... have been using webmin for several weeks now and suddenly user names (complete lines) in /etc/passwd are missing... yet, the user's /etc/shadow entry is intact? any ideas when administration of users is done remotely without root permissions...just through webmin user/group? root, me, has not mistakenly removed users from /etc/passwd only...so i'm looking at a webmin bug or??? any help? thanks, rf.
-- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
