Some of the ne2000 cards may work compiled directly into the kernel, but I havn't come across any of them yet.
I have a Realtek8029 (pci) and a Realtek8019(isa) ; both are NE2000 cards. They are on different machines, and both are built into the kernel. They both need to be declared in conf.modules to get them to work. I guess it depends on what you mean by "built into the kernel". I have the ethernet NE2000 support for the cards built with an "*" , rather than "M" in make menuconfig. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
