Im not sure what format Windows icons are in, but you can use the ImageMagick package to convert many different forms of grapics into other formats. You can take any gif or jpg and convert it to a .xpm. or I suppose you could reduce the size of the jpg or gif and use it as well.
Is ImageMagick a commercial product? Does it run under Linux, or only under Windows?
ImageMagick runs under linux. There is also xv, which does format conversions. And there are others as well in the XAP's catagory. xv is free for non-commercial use. xv has a thing called "visual schnauzer" which creates thumbnails of whole directories for you, a very handy feature. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
