`filec' sounds like C-shell, but in Linux you will probably use the bash.
Pls go to a book store and get yourself a Linux introductory book!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ There's really no need for the insult. I have a number of UNIX and Linux books, but none of them answer this question. If you don't have a clue yourself, why bother sending a message? Obviously this is a C shell feature in UNIX, but it doesn't work in linux. I tend to use long filenames, and use "filec" on a Sun Solaris system. I miss the convenience on my linux system. This seems like a reasonable question to me.
