While attempting to update 12.1 to 12.3, I've gotten into a situation where I can no longer boot. To describe where I am now: Grub menu shows 12.3 (Windows has been lost, but I'm not really concerned about that). If I try to boot this, it returns "Error 22: partition not found." I assume this refers to the location for root, specified in the boot line for the kernel? I know that that partition is still on the disk and readable, since I have checked from the rescue function on the installation disk. The grub boot line is (assuming I have retyped it correctly): kernel (hd0,4)/vmlinuz-3.7.10-1.1-desktop root=/dev/disk/by-id/raid/pdc_djiegecc_part7 resume=/dev/disk/by-id/raid/pdc_djiegecc_part6 splash=silent quiet showopts Brief history: I initially attempted an upgrade, but ran into space problems in the /boot partition. So I went for a clean install. It failed to format the /boot, /root and /swap partitions, for reasons I cannot tell. I can provides details, if someone will advise me what is relevant. I'm no expert, though I've been running Opensuse since 9.1 (unix end-user before that), and thus can do some command line stuff. Upgrades and installations have always gone smoothly before.
