I have a USB external harddrive that I suspect is on its last leg. I would like some definitive way to determine the number of bad blocks. I've run "fsck /dev/sdb1 -c" several times, but the only output is: /dev/sdd1: 11/30539776 files (9.1% non-contiguous), 1006495/61049000 blocks where that first number (1006495) goes up with every run of fsck -c. Is that number the number of bad blocks? And if not, then how can I find out? Thanks in advance!
