I would like to uograde my kernel for the 5.1 that I am running. I have the patches for the standard (non S.u.S.E. customized ) kernel. Can I replace the kernel source from the distro with the generic kernel of the same revision, then patch it and run it without having problems? What issues are involved in doing such a thing?
I have the 5.1 distribution, and upgarded the kernel without problem. I downloaded the whole 2.0.36.tgz from the suse ftp site. Unpacked it, applied my soundcard patch, and scsi patch, then did the regular kernel compiling procedure. It works fine. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
