[SLE] Why modules name change i2c.o > i2c-old.o?

Hello, Does anyone know why kernel 2.2.16 modules changed i2c.o to i2c-old.o? Using SuSE 6.3 (kernel 2.2.13) and trying to update to kernel 2.2.16. Any way to configure my system so I can boot either kernel and get i2c or i2c-old modules loaded?
