I decided to go for it, (this isn't a mission-critical box anyway :), fired up yast and installed modules.rpm ......the r128 module loads now.....i had just installed XFree86-4.03, now i have a new problem - xawtv no longer works, error says it can't find /dev/video, i tried it as root thinking it may be a permission problem, but didn't work that way either.... so i ran MAKEDEV.v4l again and re-tried, still no go.... files look like this: root@eischeid:/dev > ls -l /dev/video lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 May 29 23:08 /dev/video -> /dev/video0 root@eischeid:/dev > ls -l /dev/video0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 81, 0 May 29 23:08 /dev/video0 any ideas? also kv4lsetup and kwintv fail.....
You might try: rpm -Uhv devs --force On my system at least the /dev/video file belongs to the package "devs". Of course that might lead to utter paralysis. Dunno. Paul
