In Modes section you name the corresponding modeline "1680x1050_60.00", but in Screen section, you use "1680x1050". AFAIK they should be the same.
Also, check the log file to see which modes were probed.
Thanks Sunny, I did make that change earlier. It still didn't help. What is wild, is that when I use either 855 or 915resolution and then configure the display with sax2 from runlevel 3, the display that is produced goes *way* beyond my physical screen boarder. So far that you don't even see the sax2 timer until you use your mouse to scroll the "virtual" screen over to the left. I think that X may be doing what it is supposed to by the geometry set at 16/10 may be screwing it up somehow. It looks like if the entire virtual screen that is produced by sax2 were squashed down to the physical size of my screen it would work. I don't know what else to try. I never say quit, but this is kicking my ......
