My neighbor wants his PSC 1210 HP printer set up and, though the driver is listed, when I select it and select 'next' I get an 'unsupported printer' message. ... We're talking about SuSE 9 Pro,
Which 9.x version? 9.0, 9.1, or 9.2 ? As far as I remember in an older 9.x version there was a problem in the YaST2 printer config which doesn't match the autodetected model name correctly to the (often a bit different) model name which is stored in the PPD files. For general background information regarding this complicated stuff see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/03/jsmeix_print-einrichten-91.html "General information on setting up PostScript printers" If no matching PPD file was found the model may become shown as "unsupported". As workaround simply try all other listed PSC 12xx models. At least one should be supported in YaST. Additionally regarding HP all-in-one devices read http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/05/ke_hp-officejet.html Regards, Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5 Mail: jsmeix@suse.de 90409 Nuernberg, Germany WWW: http://www.suse.de/
