Shutdown/Splash Problem

I am running two computers, both with SuSE 9.1. One (the Athlon XP one) works fine, but the other doesn't. It is an AMD K6-II and is using a CRUD Monitor. It runs 640x480 resolution because it can't go any higher. When I boot/shutdown there is no splash. Also, when I shutdown it gets to the last point where it beep's twice, then stops without powering down. Could it be ACPI? If so, how do I fix this?
