Exist any way to make a search for a package by a file that I know that should be in the packege, but I dont know the name of the package?
There is a utility named "pin" that does just that. On my 9.3 system I get: <quote> vankan@pavilion:~> pin g77 grepping /var/lib/pin/ARCHIVES.gz ... please wait pin 0.30 - package info for g77 ------------------------------------------------------------------ *** no rpm named g77 installed ------------------------------------------------------------------ maybe just a typo? what about this: gcc-g77-3.3.5-5 maybe better restart with another option? grepping anyway ... ------------------------------------------------------------------ *** zgrep g77 /var/lib/pin/ARCHIVES.gz ------------------------------------------------------------------ ---> ./DVD1/suse/i586/gcc-g77-3.3.5-5.i586.rpm ---> ./DVD1/suse/x86_64/gcc-g77-32bit-9.3-7.x86_64.rpm ---> ./DVD1/suse/x86_64/gcc-g77-3.3.5-5.x86_64.rpm . . . </quote> where the vertical dots stand for a truckload of less important info.
