Rpms from other libc5 based dists (Redhat 4.2, Caldera) will work on S.u.S.E. provided that the install paths are compatible with the S.u.S.E. directory tree. Do not use Redhat srpms. Use alien to convert these to tgz format. Erwon Chan wrote:
Will any rpm package work with suse 5.2? Or will only rpm's made especially for suse linux work? won't the different file system between redhat and suse make redhat rpms different from suse rpms? or am i way off base here? and now, what i really want... where can i get a gcc2.8 rpm for suse linux? thanks.
