Volker, Suppose I wanted to email you a complex mathematical explanation, or some type of systems diagram? Don't you think some kind of XML/HTML would be ideal for such communication? Go grab a copy of the book Gravitation from the library and thumb through it. http://search.borders.com/fcgi-bin/db2www/search/search.d2w/Details?&mediaType=Book&prodID=3180273 Tell me if it would be nice to send that kind of a presentation over the Internet in e-mail. Agreed. I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR FANCY BULLSHIT!!
If you think that bold-faced, italicised, colourful nonsense looks really neat, I think you have nothing to say and procmail will handle that automagically (towards the bit bucket, for the ones still not yet with it).
If you have anything to say, say it in plain text and language, but don't waste everyones' time and money. Sorry for sounding rude.
