There's a file (System.map) in the / directory, the kernel has started saying that it doesn't find it ("Can't find map file").
Is this file imperative? What is it for? Who needs it?
Any and all answers would be appreciated,

WHAT???
I've edited one of the system.map-files and changed it, so that the comma-key in the keypad-section gives a dot. This is rather nice when entering IP-addresses!
To your problem: Unless you're experiencing any problems, or don't mind the ERROR-message ; Don't bother! Otherwise start looking at the files in this directory:
/usr/share/keymaps/ and maybe add this too... i386/qwerty/

I'm sure you're mixing up /System.map with the keytables. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
