no sound from ksCD

brand new Suse 80, sound works on login, and testing in YAst2. If I insert a cd KsCD starts "playing" but no sound. If I look at KMIx everthhing looks ok, Ive moved every setting on and off, no sound any ideas? thanks rob -- The more we disagree, the more chance there is that at least one of us is right.
