Can I for instance install the Epson iscan-firmware for the V100 Perfection Photo scanner, which is said to have problems with 64-bit systems as it is 32-bit firmware only?
In my experience (OpenSuSE 10.2 64bit), you can install the epkowa package and it will work, but it won't integrate in sane / kooka (them being 64bit). The epkowa package contains a scanning front-end (called iScan) and you'll most likely be stuck with that (I am). Not as nice as Kooka, but it works. HTH Ph.
