Hello everybody,
I like to get a digicam. This means trouble for a linux user. ;-( I need some advice / confirmation on reading digicam memory modules like smart media, memory sticks etc.
I found a shop that let me try, but I didn't know were realy to look for. The memory card was recognised by my laptop, ide drive hdc. This is were my trouble started. I could not mount it. ;-( Beeing in a hectic store with no real and good ideas -happy to find someone let me try- I gave up.
Is there anybody out there that uses a laptop w/ pcmcia adapter to read out his/her digicam?
IIRC, SmartDisk has a linux flashpath (floppy disk) utility for smartmedia cards. See http://www.smartdisk.com/support.htm
Did I miss something obvious like mounting a partition instead of the whole thing?
Definitely worth a shot if you can. I also remember something about usb adapter support in the works, if I find it again I'll send you the info. Sorry I couldn't be of more help (I'm just starting with the flashpath).

Whow! thats quick! I just went to http://www.digitalkamera.de that also offers english pages, searched for linux and found *one* adaptor, (I assume USB) that is supported by linux -SO THE MANUFACTURER CLAIM- Actually, I'd like to read the media cards direct. All I need is a media and adapter to experiment with, I cannot imagine it beeing so far off, but one never knows. My approach sounds so obvious, someone must have done it before.
