Oh no!
The file "modversions.h" is generated on kernel compile if you enable the option CONFIG_MODVERSIONS. If you do this, remember to rebuild your kernel and all the modules you use. It's not a good idea to use this file from another machine.
I wonder why some driver wants to patch this file...

Hubert, Thanks for the tip. Sheesh -- who knows why modversions.h is necessary? In any event, I found "modversions.h" in the Linux hacker's kernel and copied it into the /included directory. The compiler found it okay, but got hung up down the line. At this point, I'll either wait for a beta (and compilable) version of the Ensonique PCI driver -- or maybe purchase the full version of OSS. Has anybody found that RealAudio suddenly springs into life after installing the $20 version of OSS? Maybe the problems some of us are having are due to using the shareware version. Pfenning-wise and pound foolish. -- Glenn -- -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
