No, that does not help with this particular issue.
To clarify: gmail intentionally deletes mails that it thinks are duplicates. Thus, for instance, you never receive a copy from mail you send yourself to a mail list. Or, if you get both a direct reply and an onlist copy, you never get the onlist copy.
This "feature" of gmail breaks somewhat mail list experience.
