Doable, I guess... :-? Meanwhile, I have stored the file in my encrypted partition, with a symlink to home. But this could be a big security failure on fetchmail. Thunderbird safely (I hope) secures passwords under a master password. Unless I missed something in the docs. Something like what you suggest would do it, I guess.
